Alternative Spring Break

Alternative Spring Break is designed for students to engage in community service over 精东传媒's Spring Break, working together with fellow Monarchs to positively impact Hampton Roads. Participating students will spend the week learning about themselves, learning about issues impacting our local area, and developing a stronger connection to both our campus and our community through volunteer work, community building, and social activities.

The dates for 精东传媒's 2024 Alternative Spring Break are Sunday, March 3 - Friday, March 8

听 Spaces are limited 鈥 all transportation to volunteer locations will be provided.

Expectations of participants:

  • Currently enrolled in at least 6 credits at 精东传媒
  • Current GPA of at least a 2.0
  • Willing and able to participate in all activities - both service and community building - for duration of program
  • This is an alcohol and drug free program - participants are expected to refrain from drug and alcohol use during program activities

Lodging:

On-campus residents are permitted to remain in their Housing & Residence Life provided room over Spring Break at no additional charge. If you do not live on campus and want to participate, you are welcome to join us each day and return to your current residence in the evenings / after activities - you do not need to be an on-campus student to participate in this program.

Meals:

Some meals will be provided. There are built in breaks in the schedule for students to relax and unwind, as this program does take place in conjunction with 精东传媒's Spring Break. Meals will not be provided during breaks in the program schedule.

Cost to Participate: $20

This participation cost will help offset travel and food purchases for the week. If you require a scholarship to participate, please email听volunteer@odu.edu, and we will be happy to talk further. The program fee is nonrefundable and is due prior to the start of Alternative Spring Break in order to participate.
